โ€œWar doesn’t determine who’s right. War determines who remains.โ€

๐ŸŒŸ The Poppy War, more like a war on tropes. Seriously people, this was an annihilation for all the tropes I read before.

๐ŸŒŸ I am forever Thankful for Lily for suggesting a BR of this. I have been skipping a lot of books that I think are hyped but not to my liking. This was among them because I thought it was more a historical fiction and I hadn’t thought that it was going to be this epic.

๐ŸŒŸ This was written in 3 parts, the first part was the introductory part were we have the school, the normal life and it really gave me motivation to study harder next year, I wish I had read this at the start of next school year because I would have studied my ass off.

๐ŸŒŸ Part 2 was when fantasy elements were beginning to appear more and it was the cool part that I thought we were never going to have in this book. This was a bit less amusing than part 1 but it was still good.

๐ŸŒŸ Part 3 was the darkest thing I have ever read. I was standing on my tiptoes and I had goosebumps, I also hadn’t expect this to be this dark also I saw this in many reviews but it exceeded the expectations I had in mind.

๐ŸŒŸ But this has Asian mythology, Gods, Shaman, supernatural things, strategy and war. This is a ruthless books were many characters die, where characters take bad decisions that they are forced to take. This has no romance -and that is a plus for me because it would have destroyed the whole dark war theme-.

๐ŸŒŸ If you are looking for a light, fluffy read then this is NOT what you are looking for.

๐ŸŒŸ Lily also pointed out that this was a trilogy -I knew that- but the more important thing is that it was written by R.F. Kuang who is Freaking 21 years old!! I read that she wrote it 2 years ago so she was 19 when this was written, 19?!!! I had barely started reading when I was 19 and that made this even more amazing for me.

๐ŸŒŸ The writing style was very good and easy to read even if this was a bit heavy. The characters were good, not annoying and not stupid as many MC are.

๐ŸŒŸ The pacing was also good, I can’t decide if it is fast or slow but it wasn’t boring anyway. I think it was somewhere in between. Some of the plot twists were expect-able but the author was good at plotting and foreshadowing too. This was better than I expected and I ended up giving it 4 out of 5 stars!

โ€œThey were monsters!” Rin shrieked. “They were not human!”

“Have you ever considered” he said slowly “that that was exactly what they though of us?โ€

  2. WOW 19 when she wrote it???? I am impressed! Now I think Sarah J Maas was around16 when she wrote her first book too so I guess talent does not ask for age ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. It was long indeed and that’s why I didn’t want to read it at first but it was worth it, and Lily finished it in 2 days so I had to step up the game and finish it fast! Happy Friday to you too โค
