๐ Why does it feel like all the books in this year are released at the 7th of May??!
Disclaimer: ARC provided by the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review.
๐ I have been thinking about how to rate this book since I have finished it. You know I am a very strict reviewer and so you can always take my reviews with a grain of salt. What I am sure of is that the things I liked were more than the things I didn’t and 3.5 stars is a very good rating!
๐ I may have enjoyed TKQ a tiny bit more but both books ended up getting the same rating from me. Helen can certainly write romance! I will start with the acknowledgments because they give more depth to the story. I was impressed by the fact that the story changed from how it was supposed to be and how it is kind of Helen’s mother story!
๐ I could relate to both of the main characters. I have a resting B**** face and people always tell me to smile and that I have sold my soul to the devil years ago. That I am cold and don’t have emotions! While I am not autistic and not entirely emotionless as people think, It was good to see this kind of representation in a book! Esme is from a poor background but she is self-made at the same time! Quan was a great character and I can’t wait to read his own book <3! This is an own voice since the author is autistic and I learned a lot from it which will be helpful for my future job.
๐ I don’t expect much plot from romance stories and they are usually predictable and that’s why I have a certain mood to read them! This is not necessarily a bad thing.
I felt that the romance was bit rushed at many points but it was steamy and cute. (๏พโใฎโ)๏พ*:๏ฝฅ๏พโง
๐ Summary: This book is what I want to read when I am in the mood for a romance novel. A little bit rushed and predictable but also full of great representations and good characters. I had many feelings while reading it, I laughed and almost -but didn’t- teared at some point too. So this is a good book and I can’t wait for the 3rd book in the series specially if it is for Quan!
Quan has a book?????? welp this is something to look forward to! Great review Hamad

I am sooooo excited to Quan’s book too! He was my favorite character in this one, even though I found his relationship with Esme a bit weird. It just rubbed me the wrong way how I was able to see them so clearly as a couple, even if she was supposed to end up with Khai instead. It was a bit weird, but didn’t take from my enjoyment of the book.
I feel like the acknowledgment truly changed my view of the story. It made me realize how much Esme was an unpredictable heroine and how important it was that Hoang decided to change the entire story to give her more of a spotlight. I think this book is definitely deserving of the hype is getting right now!

OMG, I felt there is a better chemistry between Quan and Esme too. Maybe because Quan was more experienced!
The acknowledgment was just too perfect for this world!
