βIt means people who make mistakes usually learn from them. That doesnβt make them hypocrites. It makes them experienced.β
I have read a lot of CoHo books. In fact, she is my most read romance author. I enjoyed most of her books and gave most of them 4 stars but this one simply did not work as well for me.
Hoover is a great author and I like her prose and although this one had a fair share of nice quotes, I felt it was like a step down from books that I read by the author that were written both before and after it. I don’t think I enjoyed the multiple POVs here and specially Clara’s POV because it was just full of angst and became repetitive quickly.
The thing about this one is that it was very predictable and the plot twist happens at the beginning of the book which made me see the rest of the events from miles away. The other problem is that there was an event at the end that I was anticipating and it was just done in the worst possible way and it was so very unrealistic which made the ending fall flat for me.
There are important topics as usual and it focuses mainly on families but I think the story line is a bit lost in the drama. I would have preferred it as an adult book with only one POV focusing on Morgan.
βSometimes you have to walk away from the fight in order to win it.β
Summary: Overall it was an okay read but a bit less than expected from CoHo. The writing is good but the story-line wasn’t as good. It is slow and angsty specially in the middle but the end just comes and make it worse. I am still looking forward to the author’s next book which will be out soon!
