🌟 It is no secret that I LOVE this book and it may be my favorite book ever up to this point. If you follow my blog then you may have noticed that this appears in nearly all the tags and memes I do because it is just perfect!!

🌟 I don’t know where to start with this review, most of the people have already read this and already have opinions about it. I respect all opinions and I am here to explain why I love this and to reply to some of the criticism that this book has.

🌟 OK, I will start with the perfect cover! I read the Grisha trilogy because I liked its covers at the local book store and at that point I didn’t know who was Leigh Bardugo. I think Bardugo was blessed with a great artist for her covers and almost all of the different editions have wonderful covers.

🌟 I live for books with many POVs, this can be very challenging to write and read. You need to write a book with distinct voices and to make the reader able to differentiate who is who based on their way of talking and their actions, and not merely because the chapter title says that it is Person X now -A problem that I faced previously in many books with multiple POVs-. This had not one, nor 2 and not even 3 POVs but 6 POVs with additional minor ones. The characters were just super awesome and each one of them was 3D and so fleshed out.
One of the main reasons that I love this series is the characters; Nina and her Sassiness. Jesper is a precious funny guy. Kaz is the king who gathers them all. Not to forget Inej, Wylan and Matthias. The way they spoke, their abilities and their backstories is the best thing ever.

Critique: The Characters are so precocious and not realistic.

I said the same thing when I finished this one and I always say it to anyone who I recommend this book to. I agree with this but not to the point that makes it unreadable and illogical…etc. That’s because this is something that I criticize in all of the YA books, if you can believe that other characters can save the world and they are even younger than those characters then I don’t find it hard that those characters can pull a heist in their own city. I also just try to imagine them as older because this is something that won’t affect the story itself. That’s why I praised Fredrik Backman this year in his book Bear Town: teenagers are supposed to talk about every day problems and sex and puberty and sports and they sometimes sound cringy. They won’t be saving worlds as the whole YA genre depicts.

🌟 The writing is so so good, this is one of the most quotable books that I read till this point also. I just wanted to highlight most of my book and save those quotes. The intro is one of my favorites too and I know it by heart too! I like that Bardugo keeps improving and that the difference between this duology and her Shadow and bone trilogy is obvious (However, I enjoyed the first :D).

Critique: Leigh Bardugo is ableist!!

This is one of the things that I didn’t understand at all until I re-read the books using the audiobook and one of the characters called Kaz a cripple. This may have been misinterpreted as an ableist language but if you read the acknowledgment section, Bardugo started it with mentioning that she has Osteonecrosis a condition that leads to her bone death. Bardugo herself uses a cane and she is kind of disables so it is totally unrealistic for her to be an ableist and to make fun of herself. If there is something that I missed then you are welcome to explain it for me.

🌟 The plot of the story is very creative and new, I don’t know other similar stories but I know they are trying to make “The next SoC” already which is hard! The story is slow at first and kind of hard to get into at first but after the first 50 pages, the book gets faster and better and I was so absorbed into the story that I didn’t feel those 465 pages.

🌟 The Grisha verse is a vast amazing world. I like what Bardugo did with her universe and the small Easter eggs for those who read the first trilogy. This can be read by its own but I would always recommend reading the first trilogy first because it would make more sense and it will be even more fun to read.

🌟 Summary: Perfect writing, characters, world building and plot. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars in my 2 times reading it.
