🌟 Chances are if you love books that you have heard of ARCs and of NetGalley & Edelweiss. There are many Edelweiss guides -one of the best is Kaleena’s Edelweiss 101: Tips and Tricks– but I am trying to tackle some things that I didn’t see anyone address. I am also a fan of simple things so I am making this as simple and direct as possible.
🌟 First, you have to have an account and make a profile. Make sure to have a profile strength of Excellent before doing anything else. If it is not possible, then try making it as “powerful” as you can. Also, add any positive thing that you can think of and update it regularly with views and followers # as in this pic.
🌟 If you just want to check the site quickly and don’t want to get into all the lists and publishers and these stuff, just log in and you will have the homepage. Press on Review Copies and you will have the attached picture. It will take you to a page with all the available books in chronological order from latest to earliest. I just log in everyday for 5 mins, see if there is anything new and log out then. That’s the easiest way for me to keep up with all the books.
🌟 I will try to request a book right now.
🌟 Let’s try Evermore, just click on request and you will have the request box and here is the tricky part and the thing that I didn’t see tips on before. See this picture:
🌟 First: here is the profile strength that I mentioned above, the evaluation purpose is always reviewing for me and the MOST important part is answering this question:
Why are you requesting this title? (This is the most important thing, I found this out after getting rejected once and then I tried again using a different thing and I was accepted, voila!)
See what I wrote above, I think honesty is the most important thing. I didn’t have to promise a 5 stars rating or a positive review. The only thing that I always promise is that I am going to review it -and I do-. Also request books that you are genuinely interested in reading and you think you will like. Don’t request a book from an author that doesn’t suit you or a genre that you don’t read.
🌟 Different publishing houses prefer different things when requesting. Harper Collins are one of the best publishing houses and one of the nicest too. I tried many things and I got rejections until I got approved. Things that you can write include:
- If you read anything else by the author and you liked it. For example, when I requested What If It’s Us, I mentioned books that I already read by both Adam Silvera and Becky along with my ratings for them. It shows that you have the will to read the books and being familiar with the author is always a good thing.
- If you have a pre-review for the book, then you can attach the link, I sometimes just add the book on GR and people like that, I sometimes have 30-40 likes just on adding the book and that means people are already interested in your thoughts on that book.
- Some told me that you can attach the links to where you review your book here and that it helps, haven’t tried it but it worked for others.
- Say what you like about the book, sometimes it is just the cover and sometimes it is a new author that you want to support.
I prefer ending it with thanking them for considering you! after all, they have a ton of reviews and they may pick you for that.
🌟 You have been declined 😦
Don’t worry, you can request the same books many times and they sometimes accept you from 2nd or 3rd time. You can either do that from the main page or the declined titles list on the left of the page.
🌟 To request again, you can’t click on Denied. So what you do is you click on the Title of the book, for example Muse of Nightmares and then you click on request and it will be as requesting it for the first time.
P.S: I am not gonna request it again as the publishing date is nearby and I will probably get rejected. I am dying to read this book :O
🌟 You don’t have to keep checking for approval as you will be sent an email when approved. Luckily, I just have an email to show you that:
Surprise! It is the book that I just requested, I got approved after 10 mins while writing this post. So it will be hard at first and then you will start getting approved super fast.
That’s all I have guys. I hope it will be helpful for some of you.
And for everyone: if you have any other tips and tricks, or things to put in the “Why are you requesting this book” box. Please share them! I will try to add anything helpful to the original post.
Happy Reading everyone ❤
